Our catfish split fillets provide a smaller portion of meat that cooks quickly and makes controlling portion sizes easier than ever. Splits are cut from whole shank fillets using an Intelligent Portioning Machine to yield two pieces of equal mass. Additionally, our shank fillets are heart-healthy, protein rich, mild-flavored and firm-textured, making them perfectly suited for any fish recipe. Shank fillets have been deboned and have the belly flap (nugget) removed.
Our innovative processing, packaging and shipping methods guarantee our customers receive the highest quality catfish products available. Computers regulate air and water temperatures in all areas of the plant to discourage bacteria growth and product degradation. We also operate our own fleet of refrigerated tractor-trailers to deliver our products throughout the United States. Stored at the proper temperatures, our fresh products are safe to consume up to 14 days from packaging.
Our frozen products are Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) in a matter of minutes to preserve their freshness and ensure our customers receive superior-quality catfish year-round. Heartland Catfish Company is able to freeze all of our production every day in company-owned storage freezers. In fact, we have the largest in-house storage capacity in the industry, at more than 2,000,000 pounds.
Heartland Catfish Company manages our catfish supply from egg to harvest. This allows us to deliver consistent, high-quality, on-flavor U.S. farm-raised catfish year-round. Plus, our fish are fed a high-protein, grain-based floating feed that gives them their signature mild and sweet flavor.
In order for you to have the full versatility of the split fillet, we offer our raw splits in individually quick frozen (IQF) and fresh packed on ice (Dry Pack). They are available packed in portion sizes:

• 15 lb. bulk pack in both Dry Pack and IQF
